Similkameen Forest Stewardship Plan

A Commitment to the
Future of our Forests.

The forests of British Columbia are the foundation of our business and a resource we are committed to managing responsibly.

At Similkameen Forest Products, we believe responsible forestry begins long before a tree is harvested. Through careful planning, environmental assessment and responsible forest management practices, we work to balance the production of renewable wood products with the protection of the ecological values that make our forests healthy and resilient.

As part of the Gorman Group, we share a long-term commitment to sustainable forest management and responsible stewardship of the lands and fibre that support our operations.

Similkameen Forest Stewardship Plan.

As part of the Gorman group of companies, Similkameen Forest Products is committed to the Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) , which is now approved and in effect until Sept. 30, 2028. The FSP is a plan required by the Forest and Range Practices Act; rather than proposing individual harvest blocks and roads, the FSP shows broad Forest Develpment Units for which the Licensee makes commitments in the forms of results or strategies. These commitments must be consistent with resource objectives set by the provincial government.

To help the public better understand our FSP, we prepare an annual update that shows proposed harvest blocks and roads. To download a copy of the FSP or to view the latest proposed development, simply follow the links below. Proposed harvest block and road locations are available as digital Google Earth files.

Working
together.

Effective forest stewardship depends on collaboration. We recognize the importance of working respectfully with Indigenous communities, local communities, government, stakeholders and others who have an interest in the forests where we operate.

Open communication and engagement are an important part of responsible forest management. We believe better decisions are made by listening, sharing information and considering a range of perspectives.

By taking care of the forests today, we can help ensure they continue to support healthy ecosystems, strong communities and sustainable forest products for generations to come.
