Log Purchase and Sales

Canoe Forest Products only procures logs under conditions that comply with the Western Canada Sustainable Forestry Initiative and are aligned with the United Nations declaration on the rights of Indiginous Peoples.

Quality Fibre from Trusted Partners.

At Canoe Forest Products, our plywood plant consumes approximately 245,000 cubic metres of fibre each year. About 80% of this comes from fir, with the balance made up of spruce, balsam, white pine, and hemlock. To keep production strong and consistent, we purchase peeler logs on the open market and work with trusted partners across British Columbia.

Responsible
Sourcing.

We take pride in sourcing logs responsibly. All fibre used by Canoe  is supplied by major licensees, BC Timber Sales, woodlots, and private timber holders who share our commitment to sustainable forest management. By working only with partners who demonstrate sound stewardship, we ensure our products begin with a respect for the land.

Diligent Management.

From the forest to our facility, every log is carefully managed. Peelers are purchased throughout BC and delivered to the nearest scale site through the Ministry of Forests’ official program. Once scaled, the logs are stored in Shuswap Lake, where tugboats tow booms directly to our mill in Canoe.

Local Log Dumps
on Shuswap Lake.

To maximize efficiency, Canoe Forest Products manages three log dumps on Shuswap Lake. The Canoe site, located at our mill, runs year-round, while our Lee Creek and Two Mile locations operate as needed. This network allows us to handle fibre in an efficient and economical way while maintaining a close connection to the communities we serve.

A commitment to sustainability.

Sustainability is our top priority. We commit to sourcing logs from certified, responsibly managed forests and avoid fibre from controversial or high-risk sources. Our procurement program includes risk assessments, training for logging professionals, on-site field checks, and independent third-party audits. These measures ensure we continually improve our practices while protecting forests for generations to come.
