Douglas Fir Plywood (DFP)
CSA 0121

Premium Structural Sheathing
for High-Performance Construction.

Canoe Douglas Fir Plywood sheathing is a high-strength, unsanded structural panel engineered specifically for the demanding needs of the construction industry. As the original engineered wood product, our plywood panels provide a level of reliability and structural integrity that modern substitutes struggle to match.

Engineered for Excellence

Each panel is crafted by laminating layers of high-quality wood veneer with phenolic resin adhesive. Through a process of intense heat and pressure, these layers are cross-laminated—alternating grain directions—to create a panel with exceptional dimensional stability and uniform strength. Once the phenolic resin cures, it becomes a permanent bond that is unaffected by moisture or heat.

Quality Standards

Produced to meet CSA 0121 (DFP) and CSA 0151 (CSP)  for Canadian Structural Plywood, and US Standard PS-1 for Structural Plywood.

Key Benefits

  • Superior Swell Resistance: Plywood is 7x more resistant to thickness swelling than alternative wood-based panels. It remains stable when wet and returns to its original dimensions once dry.
  • Unmatched Strength: Outperforms substitutes in four critical engineering areas: bending, tension, compression, and planar shear.
  • Lightweight Efficiency: At 40% lighter than many equivalent wood-based panels, Canoe DFP is easier to handle, transport, and install.
  • Exceptional Durability: High impact resistance ensures the panels withstand the rigors of the job site.
  • Eco-Friendly (NAUF): Manufactured with no added urea-formaldehyde, ensuring low emissions and safety for all environments.

Versatile Applications

Canoe Douglas Fir Plywood is rated for load-bearing use in both single-family and multi-family residential projects, as well as commercial builds.

  • Structural Assemblies: Ideal for roof, wall, and floor assemblies.
  • Industrial Use: Perfect for furniture manufacturing and materials handling where a high strength-to-weight ratio is essential.
