Douglas Fir Select:
Oiled & Edge-Sealed (O&ES)

High-Strength Concrete Forming for Reliable Performance.

At Canoe Forest Products, our Douglas Fir Select O&ES panels are engineered for contractors who require the legendary strength and stiffness of BC Douglas Fir in a cost-effective, non-overlaid concrete form.

Manufactured at our Canoe, BC facility using premium interior Douglas Fir veneers, these panels are specifically designed for applications where structural integrity is paramount and a high-reuse life or architectural finish is not required.

Product Overview

Our Select O&ES (Oil & Edge-Seal) panels start with a high-grade Douglas Fir Select Sheathing base. Each panel is precision-repaired, sanded, and factory-treated to ensure consistent performance on the job site.

These panels are the ideal choice for below-grade foundations, footings, and structural forming projects where the high strength-to-weight ratio of Douglas Fir is needed at an economical price point.

Recommended Applications

  • Residential and commercial foundations
  • Footings and below-grade walls
  • Limited-reuse structural forming
  • Projects where strength is critical but a sanded, non-overlaid finish is sufficient

Key Features & Benefits

  • Engineered Strength: Utilizing high-density Douglas Fir veneers, our panels offer superior stiffness and screw-holding power, maintaining form under the pressure of heavy concrete pours.
  • Factory-Applied Release Agent: Each panel is treated with a chemically active form release agent to facilitate easier stripping and protect the wood fiber from moisture. (Note: For maximum longevity, we recommend re-applying a quality release agent before the first use and between every subsequent pour.)
  • Moisture Protection: Panels are factory edge-sealed to minimize moisture absorption and edge swelling in the highly alkaline environment of wet concrete.
  • Sustainable BC Fiber: Proudly manufactured in the Okanagan from sustainably harvested timber, meeting the highest standards for structural plywood (CSA-0121 and PS-1).
