At Canoe Forest Products we believe we have a responsibility to support the people, community and the forests that have in turn supported us. This principle drives how we do business: from our deep investment in employee safety and inclusion, to our proactive engagement with Indigenous communities, to our long-standing commitment to sustainable forestry practices.

A commitment to the forest.

Our forests are a sustainable, renewable resource, and one that we will never take for granted. We work with many different First Nation communities and make sure that from harvesting to planting, we are fully committed to sustainable forest management. 

We manage our forest tenures under a rigorous Environmental Management System and hold both SFI and PEFC certifications. Our reforestation efforts go above and beyond: we plant 800,000 to 1.4 million trees annually — nearly double the government requirement. And we use low-impact harvesting methods and are proud of our recognition by the Forest Practices Board for our care and transparency in forest stewardship.

Our Woodland dept. practices the highest levels of forest stewardship, forest planning, environmental management and is accountable to The Forest Practices Board.

Energy Efficiency

Created in partnership with BC Hydro, the Gorman Lumber Energy Mgmt. Program has significantly reduced energy consumption across all our divisions.

Ethical Sourcing

We recognize that the success of our company extends beyond our products and into the ethical standards we uphold. Ensuring that child and forced labour are absent from our supply chain is a fundamental part of our commitment to responsible business conduct.
